You see I was always addressed as madam or mam in the USA and never met any familiarity at restaurants, hotels. etc... People were always very polite.
Though tourist places is the horse of another colour. By the way tourists from Russia are very well bred and children are not noisy and have good manners. So when I hear someone saying that Russian people are notorious for their bad behaviour abroad I feel embarrassed.
