Why! Never! You see, I lived by the see for about 29 years but coukdn;t swim either. I was afraid of the water. When we moved to Europe (this is the way we, people in the Far East, called this part of Russia) I began to swim, if it can be called swimming, on the Oka river in Ryasan. My husband's parents came back to the city after his father had been dismissed. Write to me as often as you would like. I'm happy to listen from you.

NatalyS, thanks, my dear. I am trying to treat myself quickly, cause on Tuesday I must go to maternity hospital. The Cesarean section is prescribed to me next week.
I like how you call that part of Russia

Oh, you are going to give birth to a baby! It's great! Being a mum of two children, grown up now, I know what happiness it is. I'm looking forward to congratulating you on delivering a girl or a boy. Wish you good luck.

Dear girls I’ve opened the last two pages of the forum and - such a nice surprise! Instead of usual “Hi girls, I want to speak English too” and then – disappearing for ever, I found you two and Zhenya ( ESENICHKA) discussing the places you are living now or lived in, the places you like so much! And the photos – they are wonderful!!! Natasha, your photos of Lipetsk are full of warmth and love, and we can’t but feel it. The photos of the bays you found on the internet (I think it’s the beach of the so called Russian Far East) are marvellous. And then Russian nature in Zhenya’s photos – it is quiet and affective in its simplicity and touching your heart … Dear girls, thank you so much for the joy you gave! If you go on sharing your recollections about the places you lived in or visited you will give us a lot of pleasure. I say us as I hope all the rest even silent members of the forum (I consider myself one of them) will join me.

NatalyS, do you collect orchids by cultivating them?

Sorry to say no! My husband and children presented me with some flowers bought in flower shops. The first one appeared 6 years ago. Now I have six. They bloom every year in winter and early spring. I love them dearly.

Only pfalenopsises. I wanted to by a Lady Sleeper, but failed. It had already been sold. A very beautiful one. Generally speaking, orchids, especially the one I've mentioned above are considered the most beautiful flowers in the world.

Here are some of them. Sorry to say they aren't as beautiful as the one I failed to buy. But it was cultivated by a man whereas those on the photo grew in the forest.
When I lived in the Far East I saw a lot of the flowers in the woods but they seemed modest and even dull. These are the orchids in their natural habitat.

NatalyS Your orchids are beautiful! You are only one person I "know" can make orchids bloom again. Take my hat off. Speaking about vanilla, I heard that some orchids are edible, specially in India.

Sorry to say I knoq very little of orchids though read everything both in Russian and in English. Моментик писал(а): | You are only one person I "know" can make orchids bloom again. |
Why!
One of my friends has some different sorts and they bloom every year. I've never met a man so good at growing flowers. It's his passion. He lives in Moscow. I'll ask him to e-mail pictures.

NatalyS, you are right. The decorative/domestic orchids are much more beautiful and splendid than their wild sisters You have the most luxurious of them!

Nataly, really, it is a small world. I born at Far East, in Vladivostok and lived there untill I was 2.
What about your orchids, I am in delight, they are so beautiful and gentle, I haven't any other words I'm just in love in them

NatalyS, at first I thought that this snow-white flower was narcissus and only after reading your comment I understood that it was an orchid!

Nadya, your cat is so cute!
Nadya, I am very glad for you as well.
Some days ago I had an appointment and interpreted for a young girl who is going to become a mother soon. According to the National Health Service (NHS) she has her personal midwife and care assistant but not a doctor as it is in Russia. The doctor examines a patient (a pregnant woman) as well (not every time, when there is need), but permanent care and responsibility are on these two professionals.
And another interesting thing: in the UK the department for future mothers in any hospital is called anti-natal clinic. I remember about one of my first appointments as an interpreter (it was some months after my arrival in England and I didn’t know a lot at that time): my boss said that an appointment would be in the anti-natal clinic. I guessed that the expression of my face was puzzled because my boss smiled and explained what it means. As for the word “maternity” I always see it on the signs “Maternity clothing” in dress supermarkets. It is widespread in this combination.
And then I know that in Russia if you want to have more care and attention from the medical staff in the hospital you should pay. In England all medical services are free (except dental service and plastic surgery), but for pregnant women dental care is free as well. The service of interpretation is paid by NHS. It’s interesting to know more about medical care in the USA. I heard that it is not free, is it? But may be it’s free for pregnant women?
