It's worth visiting, upon my word! Though it's not easy to live there, particularly in a big city like Yekaterinsburg: a lot of industrial enterprises hence lack of pure water and the air leaves much to be desired. Although Lipetsk is a great industrial center too many problems dealing with the environment have been settled recently.

I want to demonstrate you two more pictures of the Urals. My daughter and her family try to use every chance to see more beauties of the region. It's one of the nature-reserves.

Dear friends, help me, please. As a matter of fact I'm reading Danielle Steel's novel "Toxic Bachelors" now. You see I'm keen on her novels because of the language first of all, and the intrigue is always amusing too. It's but natural that the two words in the title are simple to understand separately, but the combination of them gets me, as far as the word toxic in this case might have a special meaning as compared with the original one. Is it the same as confirmed, elusive and old? Thank you. sharik give_heart

Nataly, Danielle Steel explores the perils of dating, relationships, and love in a novel that takes us into the intoxicating, infuriating world of three charming single... men, also known as…Toxic Bachelors. They were the most daunting of bachelors.... So I guess that is why she is using the word Toxic...to keep sparks going, I guess... Smile Also, these three men had problem with commitment until they met the right woman so their bachelorism came to the end. I think, another appropriate word to use would be "Incurable", though it got cured, good for them!

Thank you, dear! It's great: you seem to share my fondness of the author. girl_claping And you are quite right to interpret the word through the context it's used. More than that you analyze the main idea of the whole novel. I like this approach. But still are there any other meanings of the word beside ядовитый, токсичный, etc ? I'm too naughty, ain't I? Sorry. give_heart

Nataly, the word "Toxic" has no other meaning than ядовитый, токсичный when it comes to literal translation of it. However, if you would want to translate the name of the book with the meaning Danielle Steel put into it, it would be something like "Законченные/убеждённые холостяки". You see? No, you are not naughty at all, you are a good girl! good2

I'd like to share with you a very interesting history story I'd learned recently.
We were visiting Lake Havasu, Arizona and admiring real London Bridge in the middle of the desert. Well, not exactly of course... . Let say in the oasis on the Colorado river.
The story is this bridge was build in London in 1831 by John Rennie . Then, in 1962 it was sold to American real estate developer and the oil company owner Robert McCulloch, who was the founder of Lake Havasu. Who brought this bridge to Arizona!
The bridge facing stones were carefully disassembled and each piece was numbered, and then re-assembled.
The reconstruction took slightly over three years and was completed in late 1971
Here is the London Bridge.

Really great! a very interesting story which proves again and again that Americans never lose any chance to bargain at the expence of Europe girl_haha girl_haha girl_haha But they themselves did a big job too. So we can't say that they don't contribute to world culture, in this case to architecture. girl_claping
Do you remember this lovely song beginning with "London bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down
London bridge is falling down, my fair lady".
I like it very much and sometimes sing it to my granddaughter Nataly.
Let's hope that this wonderful construction will never fall down. Yahoo! Yahoo! Yahoo!

Nataly, you are so sweet! Thank you so much for your kindness! air_kiss I, from the other hand, do not have any problem having candies around as I will eat only one with my unsweet tea once in a while. I also have some candies at work to treat myself with unsweet coffee. I know it sounds weird but it is coming from Azerbaijanian tradition and I am so glad I partially girl_haha grew up there. My kids have the same habit because of that as well though they are Киевляне.

As to Russian candies being tasty I have no doubts. Unfortunately, our candies are not as tasty as so many other things so I treat myself by going to Russian store once in a while and making Russian fiesta after. I am buying mostly: варенье, конфеты, копчёную рыбку, гречку, сыр, шпроты... The reason I consider this as a treat because I go there only 2 - 3 times a year which is good as хорошего понемножку. girl_haha Anyway, I crack myself up here and better stop. Thank you for cheering me up this Friday morning! good2
