Thanks! Romashki In the evening it's accomponied with music. A real show, not so grand as a musical fountain in Barselona but not worse than that one in Protoras (Cypros), where it's a commercial project and one of tourist attractions. girl_claping

Nataly, it is beautiful! Thank you for sharing! We have some fun fountain in Atlantic City as well. It is just a fountain but once in a while it starts doing different tricks accompanied by the music and lighting. Fountain itself starts going in different direction and it looks pretty lovely. Everyone just stop and watch the show and then continue to shop as it is located in the middle of Shopping Mall.

Dear friends, I want you to see another fountain. It's in my native town and decorates the main square [censored] all official events and not only official take place. It was opened 4 years ago and now it's one of the most favourite places.
The pfoto was taken from my former student's album. She lives in New Jersey and I hope Maria won't object.

It's beatiful. Of couse I don't object and wellcome such an amazing photo here. But to be honest, I don't know where it is situated. I live in the downtown of Jersey City and we have several fountains here. And also there is a fountain in the historical part of the city, but neither of them looks like the fountain from your photo. Maybe I just need to walk more in the evening Smile
Your photo reminds me about our trip to Chicago last year. There are plenty of fountains in this city. I'm not a good photographer, but my boyfriend is. He did a lot of pictures

This is the same fountain, it changes colors

Esmira and Nathalie,

The way she was knitting amazed me so much! I am not sure if it is typical Italian technique, but I've never seen anyone else knit that way. I will try to explain in more detail Smile. Basically, she would put one needle under her arm and create the stiches by twisting/turning the yarn with fingers. She would use the second needle very little, just to help with formation of the loops/stiches. And of course the whole process was incredibly quick Surprised.

I think this technique is called tenerif. I'd like to learn how to do it, and even have some books about. Patterns are very nice and it's very fast to knit this way, just as you mentioned

Esmira, I like the thing with swimming in the rain, that's what we used to do when we were kids in Latvian lakes - as water is the warmest during the rain good2

NatalyS, the fountain with lights from the main square of your hometown is impressive. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us!

Мышунчик, nice to meet you too. I moved to Leeds (basically to the UK in general, umm) 3 months ago. So I am quite new to the city. Actually, we currently live exactly opposite the Royal Armories museum. I didn't realise it's so famous, but it's a very interesting place to visit - 5 floors with expositions and different kind of amusements for children and adults, including interactive games. It is worth visiting!
Regarding Abbey - there is Abbey House Museum, where you can experience the sights and sounds of life in Victorian Leeds in the year 1880.. I haven't been there yet, but surely will share impressions after the visit. Is it the one you meant?
And thanks for sharing views of wonderful fountains!

Julia-Julia, hello, we are "former" neigbours - I am from Latvia. Nice to meet you. I also enjoyed working in the team, consisting of people of different nationalities. When I was on my internship in Slovakia, my team consisted of Polish, 3 Slovaks, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Swedish and Dutch colleagues. That was a real fun to work with such different people and to have parties with!

This weekend there going to be famous (I guess in the UK only?) Leeds West Indian festival. Some people are taking part in the parade, wearing spectacular costumes. Below there is a photo of last year festival's queen. I will try to make some photos and to share with you. Smile

Hi, Irina, nice to meet you too, neighbour Smile. Looks like we are still kind of neighbours. How far is London from Leeds? I used to live in North Wales in a little Victorian town Llandudno before my husband and I moved to London. Probably North Wales is closer to Leeds than London. You said you have lived in Leeds for 3 months. I bet you are still in an exploring mood Smile.

Thank you for the wonderful photos! The fountains are really beautiful; good2 good2 particularly the fountain that looks like a skyscraper (I like Nataly’s comparison) and I have never seen anything like this before. Romashki Romashki

Irina, we will wait for your photos from the Festival. Rose Rose At first I thought to ask Bill (my husband) about going to Leeds to see the Festival, but then we both decided to go to the coast as we don’t like crowds of people, loud music, etc. I think it’s our age….

Dear girls if you don’t mind I would like to show some photos of the places we went to on Sunday. The place is called Flamborough Head it’s on the North East coast of England. It took us almost two hours to get there and we stayed there for only another two hours as we needed to get back to see to the dogs. I would like to show you one of the photos of the perfect condition of country roads here in England (I always admire it).
Фото

And in the 2nd photo there is a hedge. It goes on for some miles, there are only fields around (no villages), and in spite of it the hedge is very neatly trimmed! It’s England! Wink
Фото

At last we arrived, the road ended at the place where a lighthouse is, and I’d like to hope it is noticeable in the photo that far away on the horizon the sea gradually transfers into the sky.
Фото

The beautiful old white cliffs washed by the sea
Фото

Фото

People sitting on the benches enjoy watching the sea which is different every minute.
Фото

In this photo there is something like a short column and an arrow on the ground. The arrow shows the direction of the Greenwich Meridian.
Фото

On the top of the column there is a kind of a disk with the outline of England, the Greenwich Meridian and different directions come from it. So as far as I understood if we are in Flamborough Head and start crossing the sea, eventually we will find ourselves in Europe so easily! Wink
Фото

One of the last photos… As soon as we started our way to Flamborough Bill started to dream about fish and chips at the seaside. nyam2 Please don’t laugh but I decided to show you this traditional English meal (sorry, the plate is not full as I was hungry and forgot to take the photo when the waitress brought it). The fish has a fresh taste of the sea. It is delicious! Usually it is cod. And what is interesting, if you have fish and chips in England you will never find bones in fish: they are removed before cooking. On the chips in my plate there is a small slice of lemon, I have already squeezed its juice over the fish, chips and peas. nyam2
Фото

When it was time go I took the last photo of the sea.

No, I lived in the Far East for 20 years and studied in the Far East State university. Though the climate there isn't as good as on the Black Sea coast we spent a lot of time on the seashore and swam much. friends

Was it the Sea where you lived? or may be it was the ocean? As for me I enjoy the stark beauty of the cold north sea more than warm southern seas, although we can’t enjoy swimming or getting a good tan. But there is something magic in the stark beauty of the East Yorkshire coast its high cliffs and rugged coastline are breathtaking in their unique beauty give_heart

It was the Japanese Sea. It's quite rediculous but I couldn't swim at that time and began swimming (not very good though) on the Oka river. I might have been afraid of the sea, its waves, etc.... As for the river it's not so deep and rather slow. Yahoo! Yahoo! Yahoo!

I've already shown some pictures about our river cruise. Here are two more. It's the great Russian river Volga. Now I believe that it's really great.

Jelena, thanks for wonderful views of Flamborough and useful information!!

Here is my video report from Leeds Carnival (it's not festival, I mixed up this with rock music festival that happened over this weekend also in Leeds and where rock bands were performing Embarassed ). But this is exactly West Indian Festival as a tribute to the culture of Carribean islands. Nevertheless, I found it very colourful and energetic, but of course very loud!! Please dont judge too strict on my video, as it has been taken by photocamera and I am actually still learning how to make proper movies with Windows Movie Maker Embarassed

As far as I heard participants are creating the costumes themselves or with the help of friends, as there is a competition before the parade, where King and Queen of carnival are voted. I can imagine how much effort it takes to produce one of these costumes.

I've seen the film and I am delighted! good2 good2 The impression is that I was at the Carnival! It’s obvious that the Carnival was very bright and colourful. And it’s a bit unusual to see Caribbean dancing and people dressed in exotic costumes in the streets of Leeds. Yahoo! Yahoo! Yahoo! But what I don’t understand is why the Carnival was called West Indian. unknown It is more like Caribbean, or may be Caribbean islands are on the West of India? I must confess I am not good at geography. Embarassed

Elena, no worries, I was completely sure there is going to be a festival for Indian people, one friend of mine laughed a lot about me. Who would thought?? It's a confusion because of Columbus Wink , look:
From Wikipedia: Carribean islands are called the West Indies because when Christopher Columbus landed here in 1492 he believed that he had reached the Indies (in Asia).
