![]() Ah that is a beautiful one. I wish I did my MSc in this kind of historical building. Not a newly built university in between of german speeking people (this language is still harsh for ears, I do not know why). |

Splattie Girls, I'm happy to see that you' ve much to speak about. Common interests unite people. Great! As for us we have a good chance to learn more from people living in the Ehglish speaking environment. I enjoy it. Your pictures give us this chance too. Thanks a lot! More than that it's a great thing to be able to compare cultures and introduce us to them. I mean France and Great Britain. As for German I have never liked it either. I had to learn it at the university but have never used it as far as English is spoken all over the world. At least I have never had any problems travelling abroad. ![]() I' ve just managed to load the pictures. They are about my last trip to the Urals. My daughter Olga is putting some money on the tray and her daughter Ntaly is helping her. Nataly, me and the inventor of a bycicle Yefim Artamonov. There are rumours that it was not he who made it. Who knows? The same is true about other inventions. Phone for instance. |

NatalyS,
You have uploaded some nice pictures. You have such a cute grand daughter. I didn't know about the byce inventor. As we say there is always a room to learn ![]() We never know if it is true or not. But that might be the case. As for instance Mozart was writing the operas and selling them to others. So other rich people were claiming that it was their creation. To continue this photo discussion that adds some life to our conversation I am uploading some more pictures as well. And as you know the Big Ben London Eye A view from the Millenium Bridge |

NatalyS,
With pleasure! The pictures are taken by my husband! He takes nice pictures and when I take some of him, he barely is in the picture ![]() He asks if I was focusing on him or on something else. Anyway I let him do his hobby and I develop mine here ![]() After getting married I am now learning how to cook a delicius food so that in the future when we have guests and kids I will be able to do something nice from simple things in the fridge. I was so focused on my career before that I could not even imagine that cooking is such an art! I attach some more pics taken during the evening walks. In most of them you can see the grey sky or at least the clouds that is so typical for London. London Bridge Outside of the Buckingam Palace The Gurken (you know that from German this literally means - a Cucumber ![]() A view from the London Bridge to the City (financial center is all there, you should see the heavy environmnet there these days, all people are under the stress as one of the biggest banks is going bankrupt!!!) And you can see these little cute creatures in most of the parks of London. They used to be in France as well but those were shy. The Londoners are not! They come straight to you and jump on your trusers! |

Your or your husband's new pictures are so bright that London looks like a southern city somewhere in Spain. You seem to be a sunny person, maybe that's why you see the world around you in bright colours. By the way what's your profession, if it's not a secret? The sqirrel looks very much alive. I saw a lot of these wonderful friendly creatures in Chappel Hill, North Carolina , the USA. We used to treat them to something tasty. It was great fun. Is it Picadilly Circus that's opposite (outside) Buckingham Palace? I know for sure that I'll skim through the pictures again and again. Thank you for the pleasure. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My pictures are not so good as yours but I want you to see my dearest and nearest. This one was taken in Yekaterinsburgh where my children live now. My husband, our daughter and granddaughter are having meal in a very ineresting and popular restaurant "Dacha". You are sure to know what this word mean. The interior of the restaurant looks like a room in an old and deliberately untidy decorated summer cottage but the meal and the service are superb beyond all doubts. |

Hello NatalyS,
we have taken those pictures in a few sunny days which is so rare so when we have that brilliant opportunity we want to take an advantage of it. I do miss sun a lot. So in these type of heavenly days I become a child jumping and running around in the beautiful weather. My profession is not a secret. Until I moved to London I was working in a bank. Now I want to get a little time for myself and lay back. As with the help of my darling I understood that before my life was all about the work. I will start to look for a job in some time. Though I think I will have to reconsider my ambitions. As I have a family now, I do not want to come so exhausted at the end of the day so I won't even be able to talk to my husband. And that is the thing he is considered as well. That I am quite a hardworker. But we will see. I have sent my CV once here and right away got the phone interview but after giving it a thought I turned it down. I do not want to have a hectic life as before. I even didn't have time to eat with my parents when they came to visit me in France that busy I was. And it is so not fare. When I was leaving to London we had a talk with my former bosses who did not want to let me go. But when they understood that I am choosing the family life they gave me a piece of very good advice. They told me that the life is about choices. And one has to make sure that we do the right one. And when a career person like me chooses a family over the work it is a good change. As this temporarely awakeness of spirit is the gift of the fate and if in that moment we do not cherish it we lose it. So they told the people who has done their best in their jobs are the ones who has successful families. As without it we are like a castle without strong walls to support it. I kept that advice in my mind. I think it is kind of them to give me a father advice. Talking about hte squirrels they are real. They are running around in most of the parks. And it is so cute to watch them picking some fruits of the trees and eating. Here they put signes everywhere asking not to feed them. Looks like they feed them with the proper food. Once I read an article saying that as people keep feeding them with biscuits and the bread those little creatures started to have SUGAR DIABET! As their body is not adjusted to digest that much sugar, it was causing a problem ![]() Here is the video I have uploaded. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dO8rLmgG6k Concerning the place in front of Buckingham Palace, it is just in front of the forecourt of the Palace. The Picadilly Circus is not there. It is true that the Monument of Eros on the Picadilly Circus has some similarities with this monument but it is not the same. Here is the picture of the Picadilly Circus (the photo is not ours, I have to look for those in my external hard drive) ![]() YOur pictures are nice because they have some happy faces in them. Your daughter looks like someone I know in France, her name was Albina. And I like those type of restaurants that have a warm ambiance and the most important the great food! ![]() |

Splattie dear, You do not want to open that file ![]() In fact I have not done my studies in German. It was in a german part, but as it was International Economics - as all international studies (well most of them) I have done them in ENGLISH. Indeed, I learnt some German when I was a kid at the age of 11 if I am not mistaken. I was quite good in it. But it was the only year I learnt it. Afterwards our teacher got married to a german man and went away. So no more German classes. I had to switch to English. But once I have started my studies in German environment it was a perfect opportunity to remember it and to practice a little. But after a while it started just to hurt my ears ![]() ![]() ![]() After my studies I got a job in UN and started working as this was in a french environment I was always bothered not to understand simple publicity stands on the streets. So after 2 years I started learning French. Being in an environment and my love to that language made my evening classes fruitful. So now I can even work in that language. In fact I miss it here. Being in UK I now can feel how english people "love" french. So there not that much languages: -native -english -french -russian I would like to learn couple of other languages I like but time constraint is a little problematic. But we never know perhaps I will get a chance. I am trying to maintain the ones I have already. Yes, do come to London ![]() ![]() Even if the sky will be grey (we never know it changes so fast over a day) the warmth of our hearts will make it look very bright and pleasant place ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It's a good question to be discussed. I'll do it a bit later if you don't mind as far as I have to do what I've been doing for about forty years. Can you guess what it is? Ask Splattie if you can't. She knows ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I can take a guess. Taking into account that you speak English very well, I think that you are either an interpreter or an English teacher, or do you do both? You mentionned that you have learnt German as well, so my guess is that you are an interpreter. Am I right? ![]() ![]() Here are some more pictures from our boat trip. This ones are taken by a professional and you can see the difference. I can not stop watching them. So beautifuL! The London Bridge ![]() London Bridge ![]() Thanks to him we were nicely navigating ![]() And there were so many real flowers that I loved, this is one of them ![]() |

I am doing the same profession for the moment ![]() Though I should not get used to much, in order to come back to an active life ![]() |

Ah do not let me go blushing ![]() I did not get the job tight away of course. It was making the long story short. I first did the internship there. And as you know the UN internships are NOT PAID! So in order to earn some money I have done some translation of the documents after work time, in the evenings. Basicly English-RUssian. But it was so DIFFICULT! So I was thanking God that my profession is not this. But this earnt me god money so that I could live and EAT ![]() BUt after a successful itnernship I got the job. So I sticked to my financial economics background. And again all my respects to such a difficult profession! I think ours playing with numbers is a lot more easier ![]() I sent you the links. Look at your Private Messaging. I hope this time you will be able to see them ![]() ![]() Concerning the problem of forgetting it is true. I completely forgot my German. And I am worried now for my French. So I will try my best to find a job with usage of French, I was not learning it for all 3 years to forget it ![]() |

![]() ![]() Ayisha You're quite right: I have been teaching English for about 40 years. And I like it very much. I used to be a school teacher of English for 18 years , then was iinvited to work at the pedagogical (Teachers Training) institute to teach methods of teaching foreign languages. I worked for 8 years there and even did a month course in the USA. Then I was offered a job at the institute that trained Bachelors of foreign phylology. I taught English there. I have retired this year but my students don't want to part. They come to me rather often. More than that I help my young colleagues to use my handbooks as they are a bit special. In addition to my job that can be called my hobby as well, my husband and I brought up two children: Dan, who's 35, and Olga -26. They graduated from our technical university. Darling, do your best not to lose the languages you speak. It's very important. upon my word. ![]() ![]() |

By the way like Splattie I can't open your pictures that makes me too sad as they are supposed to be as beautiful and interesting as the previous ones. The place in front of Buckingham Palace really looks very much the same as Picadilly. Thank you for the explanation.
![]() ![]() I've seen the video of the squirrel. Great! In the USA we treated them to nuts and fruits not biscuits or any other harmful food. ![]() Do you mean to say that you have worked for the United Nations! You must be a very bright girl and very beautiful too ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hmm that means there is a problem in my way of uploading them. Strangely enough I can see them from my laptop. Anyway, check your Private messaging I have sent the links. I hope this time it works. Let me know if it is not the case. God, you have done much to teach the languages then! My respects! My mom is a teacher and I kknow how hard it is to be the one. That is why I never wanted to be a teacher. Yes I meant the United Nations. I guess it was a good chance and my hard work made it get it. I always say if you want to get it, do your best and get it! Concerning the methods you have done do you have them on line as well? Unlike me my sisters are pretty spoilt, I wanted them to learn languages and to get some nice profession for their safe future but it is being hard to convience them. I saw their books of English, and frankly I didn't like it. The one we were using were easy and applicable to a real life and last but not least interesting! |

![]() Ayisha, welcome to our "club" as you most correctly named it!!! We are very glad to have you and I have enjoyed looking at all the pictures and reading the full 2 pages of replies that I have missed. Where in France did you live? I studied in Paris IV in the fall of 2005 and winter of 2006 - and lived in the Septieme Arrondissement in the meantime. It was beautiful!!! I was very lucky in finding that location - right on the Seine and next to all the most popular tourist attractions! NatalyS - it seems that your trip to the Urals was wonderful!!! I loved the pictures. I hope you have many more holidays like that with the family. Splattie - Thank you for the pictures as well! I enjoy hearing your tales about life and trips in Ireland ![]() |

Thank you! I really look young for my age, at least none of the people I get acquainted with believe that I'm a retired person. I think it's because all my life I have worked with children and teens and liked the job. The picture you can see was taken last July. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
