I learnt ( and still am learning) English since my school years. I have put a lot effort. I have done my postgraduate studies in this language and plus I am living in an English speaking country now. So this is all a huge plus for my English, but believe me, I make so many mistakes and there is a huge room to improvement! Your English is pretty good. And yes please feel free to talk to us and to keep its level going up. If we can help somehow we are more than glad
I am in love with my nursery corner as well. I still can't believe that in few weeks we are going to be parents. I know it is silly of me. But this is how I feel for the moment. My husband likes the colours I have chosen as well. As he doesn't like aggressive colours of pink, neither do I by the way

I don't think my advice is very useful but having a daughter and being a grandmother I can't but feel concern about you! It not absolutely so...when I came to Spain I spoke only in my bad english,but no one had not understand me,and it was difficult...
I like to know Italian too it some similar with spanish...but i don't know that language just can understand some words...

You have asked to tell you about myself a little. Well, as you know I live in USA, State of New Jersey. I moved here from Ukraine, Kiev 14 years ago. I have 3 children. I work for Manufacturing Company in Production Engineering Department as a coordinator, it is a very specific job but I like it, it is very challenging and not boring, which is very important for me.

I am very impressed with your English. Are you an English teacher?

If it's you on the picture you look like a woman who prefers everything challenging and considering your lanuage you are well educated, aren't you? And three children.....! My congratulations! As for ma I'm really a teacher of English as the second language. Worked at school for 18 years and then - at the university for 19. I'm retired now. By the way I was lucky to do language courses in the USA travelling around the country for a month.

Yes, this is my picture and I will introduce you to my children later. I am educated from my birth, I would say and yes, I do like challenges, I am a Leo after all !

Thank you! Only thing is my kids are not babies any longer so I am kind of hesitating to place their pictures among other children. My kids are 22, 21 and 16 years old.

Thank you for your warm welcome. I apologize that it took me a while to answer, I have been very busy (as always, though).
We had company: my husband's friend and his wife stayed with us for a few days. They live in Chicago and came here to enjoy the beaches and wonderful weather. So we were entertaining them. Taking into consideration that I have a full time job and a 12 year old son, I truly did not have time for anything else.
I am expecting this weekend to be nice and quiet and looking forward to just relaxing and not doing anything at all.
Typically I do like to travel and we take a few day trips around Tampa Bay area where we live. But this rest is well deserved and very much needed.
Is anybody doing anything exciting this weekend?
Regardless, I hope that everybody enjoys their free time.

Hello, Julie. Glad to see you! It's curious but like you I have a friend in Chicago. Her family used to live in Lipetsk and 10 years ago they left for the USA. However she's coming at the beginning of June and we are sure to have a nice time as far as we have much in common.
Your avatar picture is really great! Did you take it or somebody else?
As for the last week I can't say that something special happened during the week. My husband and I had a short trip by car, saw our dentist in Voronezh. Do you know this city which is supposed to be the capital of the Central Black Earth Zone. A big one by the way but not as comfortable as Lipetsk.
I hope you won't have to work so hard and will have enough time to relax and enjoy.

Our friends from Chicago are really my husband's friends. My husband and his friend grew up together in an apartment complex building in St. Petersburg. They graduated from the same college. After that they worked together for a few years. So, they've known each other all their lives. Now we are lucky enough to be able to visit each other every so often.
We are very lucky as far as our friends are concerned. Almost all the friends are from Russia. Even though I've lived in the States for 17 years, I can't say I have good friends here. They are mostly "acquaintances". Real friends are from that "other" live in Russia. Many of them live in different countries - Germany, Australia, England, Brazil. Some, of course, are still in Russia. Unfortunately we are not able to see each other as often as we want, we are still very close and enjoy each others company. They come and visit us mostly. We have not been home in a few years. And I have to say that I've looked at the pictures of Moscow today (thanks, ladies for uploading them) and realized how much I miss home.
Now I am thinking that it'd be very nice to go home for New Years. I'll have to look into it.

Re the avatar, I found it on the internet. It reminded me of my own cat. So I decided to use it.

It's but natural as far as "Birds of a feather flock together" I like this proverb. It explains much. I don't understand the people who say that travelling abroad they do their best not to mix their countrymen whenever they meet.
You see I don't like cats and have never had any, but this one is really great!
